What a week! The 2023 Women’s World Cup and the Athletes Unlimited Lacrosse League kicked off and the PLL All-Star Weekend took place. Athletes wearing the Q-Collar were at the center of the sports world! Check out some of the highlights below:

2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup:

  • Team Canada Midfielder Quinn started and played all 90 minutes of their 0-0 draw against Team Nigeria

PLL All-Star Game:

  • Short Stick Defensive Midfielder Nakeie Montgomery scored 2 goals, including this unassisted finish off the face-off, in the Rising Stars’ 26-19 loss to the Veterans. In the All-Star Skills Competition, Montgomery netted an acrobatic between-the-legs goal!
  • Attackman Michael Sowers scored a goal in the loss.
  • Defender Will Bowen recovered 5 ground balls in the loss.
  • Attackman Rob Pannell scored 4 goals, including this empty-net lay-up, and logged 2 assists, in the Veterans’ 26-19 victory over the Rising Stars.
  • Attackman Marcus Holman notched an assist in the win.

Athletes Unlimited League:

  • Team Mastroianni Attacker Alex Aust-Holman scored a goal and had an incredible tik-tac-toe assist across Team Mastroianni’s three games, all losses to Team Apuzzo, Team Moreno and Team Read.

MLS Soccer:

  • San Jose Earthquakes Striker Jeremy Ebobisse started and played all 90 minutes of the Earthquakes’ 2-0 loss to the Portland Timbers.

NWSL Soccer:

  • Portland Thorns FC Defenders Emily Menges and Meghan Klingenberg both started and contributed to Thorns’ defensive efforts in their 4-1 victory over San Diego Wave FC. Menges played all 90 minutes of the match.

 MILB Baseball:

  • Montgomery Biscuits (Tampa Bay Rays AA Affiliate) Catcher Logan Driscoll went 4 for 16 with a home run, a walk-off double, 4 runs batted in, and 4 runs scored across the four games he appeared in, all against the Biloxi Shuckers (Milwaukee Brewers AA Affiliate).

  • After Team Canada Midfielder Quinn was spotted wearing the Q- in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, Business Insider published an article on the Q-Collar and why athletes are turning to it to help protect themselves from the effects of head impacts.
